Old unsealed flagstone patio and pool area

My home is 17 years old and I am the third owner. I believe the flagstone in our backyard has never been sealed......Its cracked and flaking in some areas. The previous homeowner laid an extensive patio/pool area and now the area looks worn out, no color and very sun bleached, as we all know Arizona is hot and sunny all year round! Is there a way to bring the flagstone back to life or am I stuck with either living with it or ripping it all out at a costly expense???? I did try a product years ago for a test area and all it did was turn white and flake off. I even had an "expert" come out once who told me to "live with it" unless I wanted to rip it all up and redo the area. Please let me know if you have any ideas/suggestions to bring color to this large area of flagstone, as ripping it out is not an option, as the expense is not something I can do. I love the home and size of the yard but its such an eyesore to see glaring bleached flagstone every time I look out to my backyard. It was probably beautiful when it was first placed out there, but now its just an eyesore.

Thank you.
