Hopeful flagstone patio installer

Hi, I am researching flagstone and where to get it for my backyard project. I would like to build a patio 33'x15' with 2 walkways totaling about 20'x 2' and a short two stone high border around a few flower beds totalling about 100' length. I hate to give you all the numbers but that is essentially what I'm having trouble with. I see that most places sell by the pound or ton but I only know what my square footage is. I realize that the thickness of the stone will greatly affect the price without giving me the square footage I need. My bottom line is can I estimate the coverage by the ton based on thickness and what would the price be. I plan to lay the patio in sand so thickness may not matter but I do want the strongest suggested thickness for a high traffic, weight baring area I was thinking at least 1". I live in NYC, Queens. There are stone yards here but they mostly show bluestone. I do like it but I prefer the stone with variations of color in the reds and oranges. Again my bottom line is how many tons will i need and how much should i expect to pay to cover the square footage mentioned with natural irregular shaped flagstone, I'm going for the natural look, no straight edges.

First you need to determine the thickness of the stone you want, as that will determine how much you need. An example would be 1"-1 1/2" you should get about at least 130 sq. ft. per ton or more depending on who is doing the job. If you go thicker, than you will get less. Next, you need to determine if you want cut squares or irregular shapes as they are priced differently. If you would like to discuss your stone needs, I can be reached M-F 8-6 eastern time at 803-391-8125 and I am sure I will be able to assist you.
