Hauling flagstones -how to secure in truck

by Brandon Lecrone

I will be renting a Home Depot flatbed pickup to haul about half a ton of flagstone for a small 50 sf project. How concerned should I be about the stones sliding around in the bed of the truck during transport? Should I plan on trying to strap them down or secure them to a wooden pallet somehow? Thanks in advance for any advice, and thanks for your great site!

Thanks D&D. I was selecting my stone by the piece rather than setting a whole pallet on the truck. But I brought a couple old pallets along and loaded the stone onto those in the bed of the truck. And you were right - no tie downs or anything - there was enough friction that everything stayed put just fine.

If it’s a flatbed truck, I’d strap the pallet down, if it’s a pickup truck then I wouldn’t
