white spots on flagstone fireplace

My grandmother has a flagstone fireplace that has been there for years. There are white spots on it (almost like stains) now that we can't figure out how to remove. Any suggestions?

It sounds like efflorescence on your flagstone fireplace.

You should call Prosoco at 1-800-255-4255 and ask them about the best product for your project. They're the chemical company my dad's used for years for cleaning bricks and stone.
