What can be done about a scratch on a large flagstone piece

Hi,

I am laying down a large flagstone patio and one of my helpers accidentally scratched the surface of the biggest piece (which is extremly heavy). Is their anything I can do to blend it in or will I have to take it out and replace it. It is a greyish blue stone so the white scratch about 12 inches long is a real eye sore right now. It is such a nice piece of stone and so heavy that I hate to have to dig it out and try to find a replacement piece.

Made a cut on the scratch

The scratch was deep and long so I gave up and made a break on the scratch and am reusing the 2 pieces somewhere else.

Dear Brandon,

It's tough to say without seeing the stone. The Colorado Flagstone that we work with looks normal with a few scratches, unless the scratches are very deep.

It it's too deep, then there's nothing that you can do that won't stand out. If it's irregular flagstone, then my dad will make a natural crack on the scratch and break the stone apart. If it's pre-cut flagstone, then my dad will flip the stone over.

Maybe that will work for you.
