my flagstone turns a gold color when wet

I have installed Lompoc Oatmeal flagstone on my patio...I selected the Lompoc because of the light tan/gray color that had very little gold patches(I did not want the gold)..Now that the stone is laid it has turned gold after being cleaned with water...Im assuming the stone has some kind of iron in the composition of the stone that is rusting when water is present...I am planning to media blast the stone to remove the gold color residue and apply a penetrating matt sealer. I wire brushed a small area and was able to remove the gold color, I then sealed that area.. Hopefully my sample will show no signs of the gold color returning....Any Ideas? Am I on the right track?
