Good morning. Love the website. We're thinking about laying flagstone over our existing patio (11' x 30'). The concrete contractor messed up this patio in 1997 when he tried for the first time to stamp it! It's terrible now more than ever because of the aging. We live in an area where I believe I won't have trouble finding the flagsone (many stone yards in the area), but who do I look for to lay the stones? A concrete person, tile layer, etc.? Don't suggest we do it ourselves because we barely know which end of a screwdriver to use!!! Many thanks for any help. I live in Western Grove, Arkansas (northwest Arkansas). Thanks, again.

Great advice Linda. Stoneyards know a lot and getting three quotes is very wise. Prices vary so much.

Ask the stoneyards!

When you're shopping for your stone, if your stoneyard dealer seems knowledgable and friendly, ask him or her if they can recommend 2-4 masons, people they have done business with. My stoneyard owner gave me 3 names and numbers right away that he would recommend. Each person was professional and very fairly priced, while the estimates we got on our own were done by outside salesmen and were the most expensive. The work that has been done so far is amazing and the best price. I will send in pictures when finished.

Linda, you need to look for someone that is experienced in laying stone. Check their references and if possible , go and look at some of their work..If you need to purchase stone , please let me know ; as I have a good source in your area..
