Laying Flagstone over existing concrete pool deck

I would like to change my existing pool deck to Flagstone other than raising the skimmer is there any issues with laying the flagstone directly over the pool deck? I'm stumped on transition ideas once I reach the pool edge?

Flagstone over cool crete around pool NEW
by: Richard

You should do just fine. Flagstone adheres to cool-crete real well. Just mortar the back of each stone and place next to another with about an inch joint. A new product we are using now for the mortar joint is Gravel-Lok. A polymer that's mixed with pea gravel that hardens real well, if you're looking for the gravel look. If not go ahead and use mortar mix or polymeric sand. The transition piece next to the pool edge should be real smooth and hopefully will have a bull nose edge. It makes for a more suitable application. In most cases most people use a manufactured slate that is made for just that purpose. Good luck!
