we have laid flagstones on a new build floor in our kitchen & utilty, they were bedded down with cement, a few lifted and were replaced, however all the mortar between the flagstones has dried out and is now chipping very badly the whole floor is a mess , i constantly sweep grout dust up daily

cut out joints

Dear Paula,

I assume it's just the joints that are popping out. You'll have to cut them out with a diamond blade saw and chip out the stone.

You'll then have to re-tuck cement into the joints. We've had good luck using Portland Type II cement, but check with a local stoneyard and ask them their recommendation. Sometimes different products work better in certain regions.
