What is the cement the mixture for the cement? Is it different than a walkway? Instead of drywall or ply wood behind the stone, What about cement board. Is there pros or cons to this?

Dear Kevin,

You can use the same mixture as a walkway which is about 2 shovels of masonry sand with with 1 shovel of Portland Type I-II cement.

Cement board is actually better in case the back gets wet, so use cement board.
