Flagstone patio around saltwater pool is flaking.

I put a flagstone patio around my saltwater pool when I built it and it is flaking. I am worried that I may have to replace it. Is there anything that can be done to preserve the stone?

Follow Dave's advise. You didn't mentioned if you had sealed the stone after installation. Prosoco makes many different types of sealers that could help. Also the density of your stone is utmost importance. Here in La. we use Oklahoma and Arkansas flagstone. Our pool installers recommend these states for excellent flagstone for salt water pools and waterfalls.

The stones from these states are sandstone base and have high density values..Other states have a limestone based flagstone that is more porous.

Somebody suggested a chemical from DuPont that will help with it. We've never used it, so we can't comment on it. However, you might want to look into it. Follow the link below for more info:

You should also call Prosoco at 1-800-255-4255. They might have some chemicals to help you out.
