Flagstone on top of outdoor tile

I have a patio that is now tile on concrete. Can I install flagstone on top of the tile? I am trying to avoid cracking out all of the tile.

Dear Mike,

We've never done that, but you should be ok. The problem you will have is to make sure that your tile is stable enough and the stone sticks to the tile. You will probably want to ramset metal lathe all over your tile, so the concrete binds to the stone and tile. Test a couple of stones first to make sure that it binds. Don't do the whole project without knowing first if it works.
