Indoor Flagstone Flooring Question
Indoor flagstone flooring looks great, but also needs to be maintained. Many people will walk on it and then will make it black.
David from Utah had a question related to that.
Question:
My wife and I just purchased a home with a flagstone walk way
that goes from the front door to the back door inside the home. We love it but
it really is the center peice in the home and it has been horribly neglected.
The grout is failing and the stone has blackened. How do we clean off the
oxidation and not etch the serface of the stone so that it will not appear
dull?
Answer:
Dear David,
If the grout is failing, you might have to chisel the weak spots out and re-tuck the joints back with mortar. I would say to use a saw, but being inside would be too dusty. Saws make a lot of dust.
With the blackened flagstone, you could clean it with 600 Detergent from Prosoco, but it is strong stuff and might not be the thing to use inside. I'm guessing that the black on the flagstone is due to people walking on it over the years.
I would call Prosoco at 1-800-255-4255. They're the cleaning experts and very friendly.
Great luck with your project!
David and Hans
