filling the gaps in flagstone

i'm starting my flagstone patio in 4 days. i have a 4 inch sand base. im looking for something to sweep in the gaps and just add water. what about sweeping in quickrete and misting water onto patio? will ths harded? i'm nervous to just use sand due to heavy rain in s.c. (on the coast)i dont want it to wash out. mortar seems to be very time consuming. any ideas?

Dear CJ,

We've seen people do that, but you'll eventually get cracks in the concrete joints. Some people don't mind the cracks, so if it doesn't bother you, then you can just leave it.

You'll have to make sure to you compact the sand base as much as possible to help keep the stone from shifting too much.

You should also consult with your local stoneyard. They might have breeze of other fillers that is appropriate for your region.
