Driveway Base

Is it possible to install flagstone over gravel/roadbase or must concrete be used? This is a cabin in Wyoming (sever weather/snow) & want results to be rugged/rustic look. Can recycled concrete pieces be used the same as stone? Thank you for help/info. JCW

You can use road base and/or gravel. The key is compacting it really well and having a 4 inch base.

The hard part with gravel is adjusting your stone. With sand it's easy to dig it out and level it. With gravel you'll have a harder time doing that.
