Arizona flagstone turned yellow

by Jamis MacNiven

I set a huge fireplace (22" across) and used buff Arizona flagstone cut in hot dog sized pieces and veneer set them with a dry stone look. I used muriatic acid to wash the excess mortar and now I have a yellow effervescence on the surface. When wet it disappears. I pressure washed but it comes back. Ideas? Help.

I would try sealer with color enhancer.

Muriatic acid will yellow many materials when used as a cleaner. It's not too friendly. You might try DuraSheen from Prosoco. This will give you the "wet look". It will also act as a water repellant.

Before you use the durasheen you might want to use a light duty concrete cleaner.
