Arizona flagstone pool coping with black spots

We just had a pool built that has Arizona flagstone as the coping around the pool. We noticed right away that black spots were showing up. Is this normal or not? It is only on the flagstone. Our pool is only about 3 weeks old. If this is normal is there something to do to get rid of them?

Dear Kim,

Without seeing your stone, I'm guessing it could be mold. Although, I would be surprised if mold will come out in only three weeks.
